**Opening Red Wine with a Paper Clip: A Simple and Ingenious Trick**
This might sound like a trick from a survival guide, but it’s actually a nifty solution for when you’re caught unprepared. Here’s how you can easily open a bottle of red wine using just a paper clip.
### What You Need:
### Step-by-Step Guide:
#### 1. Unwind the Paper Clip:
Start by straightening out the paper clip. You can use a pair of pliers or simply your hands to unfold it into a straight wire. Ideally, the wire should be about 3-4 inches long. The more rigid and durable the paper clip, the easier it will be to manage during this process.
#### 3. Insert the Paper Clip Hook into the Cork:
Now comes the tricky part: inserting the paper clip into the cork. Take the hook you’ve made and carefully insert it into the cork, making sure the hook grabs onto the cork’s surface. Push the hook in as deep as possible, ideally about half an inch, ensuring it’s securely anchored.
#### 4. Pull the Cork Out:
Once the hook is firmly in place, it’s time to slowly start pulling the cork out. Gently begin to pull upward with the paper clip, using your hand to stabilize the bottle. You’ll need a steady and consistent pulling motion, but don’t rush it. Just like with a corkscrew, you’ll feel the cork begin to loosen as you work.
5. Remove the Cork:
Once the cork has been pulled partway out, you can use your hands or even a second paper clip (or another tool) to finish pulling it the rest of the way. If the cork breaks or shatters during this process, don’t panic! Just carefully fish out any remaining cork pieces from the bottle before pouring.
