### **Step 1: Activate the Yeast**
1. In a small bowl, combine the **warm water** and **sugar**. Stir to dissolve.
2. Sprinkle the **yeast** over the water and let it sit for **5-10 minutes** until it becomes frothy and bubbly. If it doesn’t bubble, your yeast may be expired and you’ll need to start over with fresh yeast.
### **Step 2: Mix the Dough**
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the **flour** and **salt**.
4. Once the yeast mixture is bubbly, pour it into the flour mixture along with the **olive oil** (if using). Stir everything together until a dough forms.
5. The dough will be sticky but should come together in a ball. If it’s too dry, add a little more water, a tablespoon at a time.
### **Step 4: Shape the Dough**
7. Once the dough has risen, punch it down to release the air.
8. Lightly grease the slow cooker insert with a bit of olive oil or non-stick spray.
9. Shape the dough into a round loaf or oval shape, depending on your slow cooker’s size, and place it into the slow cooker.
### **Step 5: Cook the Bread**
10. Cover the slow cooker with the lid and set it to **low**.
11. Let the dough cook for **2 ½ to 3 hours**. Check it toward the end; the bread should be golden on top, and a toothpick or knife inserted into the center should come out clean. If it’s not quite done, continue cooking for another 15-30 minutes.
