Curved grilles: what do they mean?

In the collective imagination, window grilles are often straight, linear, and utilitarian. However, some facades reveal curves that seem to have come straight from a baroque theater set. While these grilles are eye-catching, they don’t just flatter the retina: they play a much more important role.

The curved shape of the grilles isn’t just a designer’s whim.  It optimizes their strength.  Just as a stone arch distributes weight better than a simple beam, the metal curves distribute external pressure—especially in the event of strong winds or impacts—more evenly.  The result: increased strength and extended durability.
