Something important is changing—and for many people, it could have immediate impact on everyday life.

Starting November 1, 2025, new rules tied to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) shift how benefits are maintained. For certain adults without dependents, keeping support will require documenting at least 80 hours per month of work, training, or volunteering.

At first glance, it may sound like a simple requirement. But for people dealing with unstable jobs, health challenges, or limited access to opportunities, meeting those hours consistently can be difficult. If the requirement isn’t met, benefits could be limited to just three months within a three-year period.
