School bus driver arrested after bus packed with children hit by train

Thankfully no injuries were reported among the students and staff, the school district confirmed in a statement. The statement from Superintendent Logan W. Brown read: “This afternoon, one of our school buses (Bus 2517) was involved in an accident in which the rear of the bus was clipped by a train. I had the opportunity to visit the scene shortly after the incident.

“I am grateful to report that there were no reported injuries to any students or staff. Student safety is our top priority, and we are incredibly thankful that everyone is safe. The incident is currently under review by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the Sumter County School District.
