Then he dropped the line that should follow him for the rest of his career: “We did not start this war, but under President trump, we are finishing it.” That is flat out revisionist, given it was trump who greenlit the strikes that blew the whole thing open, and now we are watching American aircraft get chewed up in friendly fire incidents that have already cost billions in hardware because the chaos he unleashed is now boomeranging back on us. The message is basically: we lit the match, crashed a few jets into each other, and now we are supposed to clap for the arsonist.
