Following the shooting, Ross was transported to a hospital. Federal officials, including Homeland Security leadership, reported that he sustained injuries and received medical treatment before being released. These injuries were described by authorities as related to his encounter with the escaping vehicle.
This was not the first time Ross had been injured in a vehicle-related encounter with a suspect. Court documents and reporting indicate that in June 2025, he was severely injured when a vehicle dragged him during an arrest operation in the Minneapolis area. During that earlier incident, Ross was dragged approximately 100 yards and suffered deep lacerations requiring stitches before ultimately breaking free.
