On a calm Friday morning in Richmond, British Columbia, a routine commute was abruptly disrupted when a commercial truck collided with the Cambie Road overpass along Knight Street. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 a.m. Pacific Time, forcing authorities to close all southbound lanes and initiate an immediate structural inspection of the bridge.
Investigators reported that the truck was towing a dump trailer that had been left in a raised position. As the vehicle approached the overpass, the elevated trailer failed to clear the structure and struck the concrete span with significant force. The impact caused the trailer to become lodged against the bridge and separated it from the truck cab, which came to rest further down the road. Despite the severity of the collision, no injuries were reported.
