**Keeping Eggs Fresh Without a Refrigerator: Ancient Tips**
1. **Water Glass Method**
The water glass method, also known as the “limewater method,” was one of the most common ways to preserve eggs in the past. To use this method, mix a solution of water and sodium silicate (a.k.a. water glass). The eggs are then submerged in the solution, which forms a protective coating around the shell, preventing air from entering. As a result, eggs can stay fresh for up to 6 months or more.
